At Poder pedagogy
We believe
All students deserve an education that:
Fosters their Poder (ability) to excel academically while cultivating cultural and linguistic pride.
Nurtures their Poder (power/strength) to dismantle the systems that were made to oppress them.
Emboldens them to take back the Poder (control) of the narratives of their histories and their futures.
Our mission
Poder Pedagogy guides the work of bilingual practitioners and school leaders, by facilitating trainings on best practices for bilingual instruction and programs using an anti-racist approach.
Our vision
Students of Color receive an education that instills cultural and linguistic pride, validates their realities and histories, and acknowledges the negative impacts of colonialism and its contemporary manifestations so that they can go on to dismantle the systems that were made to oppress them.
White students receive an education that provides an accurate and comprehensive account of history, compels them to see multiple perspectives, and empowers them to be allies and advocates to dismantle the systems they still benefit from and that were made to oppress People of Color.
