About Poder Pedagogy

¡A Linguistic Liberation Company!

We Believe

All students deserve an education that:

Fosters their Poder (ability) to excel academically while cultivating cultural and linguistic pride.

Nurtures their Poder (power/strength) to dismantle the systems that were made to oppress them.

Emboldens them to take back the Poder (control) of the narratives of their histories and their futures.

This is why we do this work. We train bilingual practitioners and school leaders through professional development grounded in anti-racism, biliteracy, bilingualism, and translanguaging. Every training we build serves this belief.

The education every student deserves

Students of Color receive an education that instills cultural and linguistic pride, validates their realities and histories, and acknowledges colonialism and its living consequences so that they can go on to dismantle the systems that were made to oppress them.

White students receive an education that provides an accurate and comprehensive account of history, compels them to see multiple perspectives, and empowers them to be allies and advocates to dismantle the systems they still benefit from and that were made to oppress People of Color.

Practical

Classroom strategies that work, not just in theory but in practice.

Linguistic

Elemental skills authentic to the target languages.

Anti-Racist

Introspection that supports advocacy and critical consciousness.
